Etymology of Cybistetes:
Gk. kybisteter = an acrobatic tumbler, from kybistan = to somersault; referring to the tumbling of fruiting inflorescences being blown about by the wind.

From the Latin longus = ‘long’ and the Latin folius = ‘leaf’

Bulbous geophyte, 25--35 cm. Leaves dry or emergent at flowering, 9--14, prostrate, falcate with truncate tips. Flowers widely funnel-shaped, cream to pink, lily-scented. Dec.--Apr. Sandy flats, NW, SW (Namaqualand to Cape Peninsula and Bonnievale).
