Etymology of Eulophia:
Gk. eu- = good, well; lophos = crest; alluding to the crest on the lip.
Etymology of sandersonii:
Named after John Sanderson (1820-1881), journalist, trader and draughtsman. He was editor of the Natal Times and frequently sent seeds to Hooker at Kew and Harvey in Dublin.
