Etymology of Fagonia:
For Guy-Crescent Fagon (1638–1718), French physician and botanist, professor of botany and chemistry at the Royal Gardens from 1671–1708 and from 1699–1718 its director. He was personal physician to Louis XIV of France. In 1669 he was made an honorary member of the French Academy of Sciences.
