Etymology of Herrea:
For Adolar Gottlieb Julius (Hans) Herre (1895–1979), German botanist, explorer, horticulturalist, curator of Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden, succulent plant specialist and author of The Genera of the Aizoaceae (1971). He collected over 300 species new to science. In May 1965, he received the Fellow Award, the highest honour the Cactus and Succulent Society of America can bestow.
