Etymology of Indigofera:
Indigo is derived from the La. indicus, Gk. indikos, referring to India; La. ferax = bearing. Indigo is blue dye (cf I. tinctoria).

Named ofter Maria Wilman (1867-1957) of the Mcgregor Museum in Kimberly.
