Etymology of Ireon:
Meaning obscure. Speculatively derived from Gk. ireos = a hot spice. Called cassia in Greece, possibly made from Cinnamomum cassia (family Lauraceae), the inner bark of several species make the spice cinnamon. This genus has an unresolved name.
