Etymology of Lippia:
For Augustin Lippi (1678–1705), French-born Italian naturalist, botanist, physician and traveller. He studied medicine at the University of Paris. In 1703 Louis XIV, King of France, sent a delegation to Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) to establish trade and missionary relationships in Egypt. Lippi went along as a botanical collector. It was well known that the mission was dangerous, as there was a lot of hostility toward the missionaries. The group was delayed time and again and were attacked and murdered at Sennar on the Blue Nile on 10 November 1705. Only one of the party survived. Lippi was just 27 when he died.
