Etymology of Norlindhia:
For Nils Tycho Norlindh (1906–1995), Swedish botanist and plant collector. After graduating with a DSc (1943), he became an associate then acting professor at Lund (1943–1949) and then curator, Botanical Museum of Lund (1950–1961). He moved to Stockholm, accepting the position of acting professor of botany and director of the Swedish Museum of Natural History, Stockholm, from 1961, and professor from 1965–1972. His interests were taxonomy, morphology, cytology, phytogeography and ecology. He collected 6 000 specimens in South Africa from 1930–1931 (including the eastern side of Southern Rhodesia = Zimbabwe) and in 1963. He collected in Mongolia in 1970 and 1972, authoring Flora of the Mongolian Steppe and Desert Areas. He was an honorary member of the South African Association of Botanists.
