Etymology of Pegolettia:
Origin obscure. Georg Christian Wittstein writes ‘perhaps after FB Pegoletti, a 14th century Italian.’ Possibly refers to Francesco Balducci Pegolotti (f 1310–1347), a prominent Florentine merchant and politician who wrote Libro di divisamenti di paesi e di misuri di mercatanzie e daltre cose bisognevoli di sapere a mercatanti but we cannot confirm this. The author does not explain the name.
Etymology of lanceolata:
From the Latin term for a spear or lance, and is usually used to indicate a species with narrow leaves that taper to a point at one end
