Etymology of Pomaria:
Named after a town in Roman Africa (Algeria) and its nearby apple orchards. La. pomum = an apple or fruit shaped like an apple.
Etymology of sandersonii:
Named after John Sanderson (1820-1881), journalist, trader and draughtsman. He was editor of the Natal Times and frequently sent seeds to Hooker at Kew and Harvey in Dublin.
