Etymology of Printzia:
For Jacob Gabriel Printz (1740–1779), Swedish physician and botanist, pupil of Linnaeus, co-author with Linnaeus of Plantae rariores africanae (1760), based upon Printz’s PhD dissertation. This publication describes 100 South African plants, based on a collection sent from the Cape of Good Hope. Jacob Printz himself never visited the Cape.
