Etymology of Ruckeria:
For Johann Friedrich Rücker (17th century), German pharmacist and plant collector at the Cape. He was employed by the Dutch East India Company for five years prior to 1696, and brought back seeds and bulbs for Christian Mentzel (1622–1701), counsellor and physician to the elector of Brandenburg. Mentzel wrote a multilingual compilation of common names entitled Index Nominum Plantarum Universalis Multilinguis (1696), and mentions Rücker in this publication.
