Etymology of Santolina:
La. sanctus = holy; linum = flax; referring to the herb’s reputed medicinal properties. There are other derivations. Unfortunately, Linnaeus does not explain the name.
Etymology of trifurcata:
From the Latin ‘tri = "three" and furcatus = "forked" referring to the forked leaves somewhat like a trident
