Etymology of Schrebera:
For Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber (1739–1810), German botanist and zoologist, and correspondent of Linnaeus. He was the author of a multivolume set of books illustrating the mammals of the world, Die Säugethiere in Abbildungen nach der Natur mit Beschreibungen (Images of Mammals from Nature with Descriptions), in which Linnaeus’s binomial system was used for the first time for mammals; as well as an entomology on newly discovered insects, Schreberi Novae Species Insectorvm. Schreber was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (1787), and president of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina (1791–1810). His herbarium collection has been preserved in the Botanische Staatssammlung München since 1813.
