Etymology of Terminalia:
La. terminus = end. The leaves are at the ends of the shoots (Hugh Glen). The leaves are clustered at the ends of branches (Jackson).
Etymology of rautanenii:
Named after Rev. Martti Rautanen (1845-1926), a Russiian born Lutheran Church missionary who collected plants in South West Africa.
