Etymology of Titanopsis:
Ancient Gk. titanos = limestone; -opsis = resembling. The succulent’s appearance is somewhat like limestone.
Etymology of luederitzii:
Named after either the town or Franz Adolf Eduard Luderitz (1834-1886) after whom the Namibian town of Luderitz is named. Franz was a German merchant and pioneer.
