Etymology of Tylophora:
Gk. tylos = lump, knob; phora = bearing, carrying. The corona lobes are thick and fleshy (Hugh Glen); stamens bear pollen masses like weals (Don Perrin).
Etymology of fleckii:
Named after Dr Eduard Fleck, a geologist sent out to Namibia around 1890 by the Deutsche Kolonialgesellschaft in 1888
