Etymology of Urostigma:
Gk. oura, ur = tail; stigma = stigma. Meaning obscure. One of his main works was Arboretum Biblicum (1699), which describes the plants in the Bible (trees, fruits, herbs and spices). In 1664, he took a stance against Justinian Von Weltz (1621–1668) and Johann Georg Gichtel (1638–1710), who opposed the leadership of the Lutheran Church. They criticised it for failing to share the gospel with heathens and wrongfully spending money on amusement, food and dress. Ursinus (1608–1667) responded to Von Weltz’s vehement attacks by calling him ‘a heretic and fanatic’, and published A Sincere, Faithful and Earnest Admonition to Justinian anonymously.
