For Charles James Fox Bunbury (1809–1886), English baronet, naturalist, geologist with a particular interest in paleobotany, botanist, traveller and plant collector. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. He collected specimens on expeditions to Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil (1833–1835), visited South Africa for three months in 1838, botanising around Cape Town, often with William Henry Harvey, and then up to the Eastern Cape as far as the Keiskamma River, and went to Madeira (1853–1854) with Sir Charles Lyell the geologist. He authored A Journal of a Residence at the Cape of Good Hope (1848); Notes on the Vegetation of Buenos Aires and the Neighbouring Districts (1855); Brazil, Account of a Journey in Brazil in 1833–35; Botanical Fragments (1883) and numerous papers on geographical botany and on fossil plants. He was elected to the Royal Society in 1851.
