For Harriet Margaret Louisa Bolus (née Kensit) (1877–1970), South African botanist, daughter-in-law and grand-niece of Harry Bolus, and curator of the Bolus Herbarium from 1903 until her retirement in 1955. In her early career she did research in several overseas herbaria, including Kew Gardens (five visits), Carl Peter Thunberg’s collection in Uppsala and Jacquin’s types in Vienna. She studied Ericaceae and Orchidaceae, later Iridaceae and Aizoaceae, wrote many scholarly and popular publications, including the two-volume Book of South African Flowers (1925–1936). She was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of South Africa in 1920 and was awarded an honorary DSc by Stellenbosch University in 1942.
