Monoecious or dioecious prostrate leafy perennial to 10 cm, stems red. Leaves oblanceolate, often coarsely toothed, roughly hairy. Flowers in axillary clusters, female sessile, male on filiform pedicels. Nov.--Apr. Boggy places, NW, SW, AP, LB, SE (southern and tropical Africa).
