In honour of Christian Frederick Louis Leipoldt, 1880-1947, born at Worcester in the Cape, befriended by Harry Bolus; doctor, author, journalist, editor, amateur botanist and collector, cook and poet.

From the Latin paucus = "few" and florus = "flower". This plant has few flowers.
