Slender tuberous geophyte to 23 cm, scape hairy. Leaf single, basal, ovate, prostrate, hairy. Flower usually solitary, white, lip much-divided with segments acute, spur 8--12 mm long. Aug.--Oct., usually after fire. Clay slopes and flats, NW, SW, AP, LB, SE (Clanwilliam to E Cape).
